Symptoms we assess
Sound familiar?
If you're experiencing the classic signs of a bladder infection, a pharmacist assessment is usually all you need:
- Burning or pain when urinating
- Needing to go urgently or more often than usual
- Pressure or cramping in your lower abdomen
- Cloudy or strong-smelling urine
- Feeling like you can't fully empty your bladder
- Mild discomfort that started in the last few days
How it works
From symptoms to treatment, same day.
01
Walk in or book
No referral, no doctor's note. Book online or just come by — bring your Ontario health card.
02
Private assessment
A pharmacist reviews your symptoms and history in a private consultation room — about 15 minutes.
03
Leave with treatment
If treatment is appropriate, we prescribe and dispense on the spot. If not, we refer you to the right care fast.
When we refer instead: fever or chills, back or side pain, blood in urine, pregnancy, symptoms in men or children, or infections that keep returning. These need a physician's attention — we'll tell you straight away and help you get seen quickly.
Questions
UTI treatment FAQs.
Can a pharmacist really prescribe antibiotics for a UTI?
Yes. Ontario pharmacists can assess and prescribe for uncomplicated UTIs under the province's minor ailments program — no doctor's visit or referral required.
How much does the assessment cost?
The assessment is funded by the Ontario government for anyone with a valid Ontario health card. You pay only for the medication, which most drug plans cover.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome any time we're open, or
book online to skip the wait. Most assessments take about 15 minutes.
What if it's complicated or keeps coming back?
If your symptoms suggest anything beyond an uncomplicated UTI, we'll tell you honestly and refer you to the right care quickly — that's part of the assessment.
